Blake Nelson's "Girl" was one of my favourites in the YA genre as a teen and it was adapted into a film with Dominique Swain and Sean Patrick Leonard (that I can't bring myself to watch). As far as I know, Weetzie Bat can be added to the 'upcoming' list...
