Cool library video

TAKS testing kicked my butt!! Had to test for two days and couldn't get back into the groove. Sorry that I haven't posted in awhile. Have some books read to do that though! In the meantime, enjoy their oddly weird but cool video.
PS - check out the mentos gum commercial. I don't know if I'm happy cool kids hang out in the library or upset that the stereotype is still alive and well....

I'm not a big television watcher, but when you're on a treadmill in the gym and the choices are:
1. UT vs. Clemson; or
2. Parks and Recreation rerun with Amy Poehler (think Baby Mama)
it's a tough choice! BUT...this is the clip that made me nearly die, literally, on a treadmill. I was laughing SO HARD I nearly tripped and fell backwards!!

Just when you think that you've had ENOUGH of the whole Twilight series, movies, sagas and other junk, along comes some parody! If you don't laugh after you've heard this song, you just don't get it.... : ) This is FUNNY!!!!

I said I would write some reviews for the three books I read in Cozumel (more like the airport terminal), but had some time on my hands and created another booktrailer. This will be out August 2009, so keep your eyes open for them in bookstores. Who doesn't like a good ghost story set in New Orleans?

Preview trailer for fall booktalk is ready!

I used a preview trailer last semester, and it had a very positive reaction. Students, when they came into the lecture hall, weren't talking, but looking at the trailer, especially with the music that goes with is. As the kids would say, Animoto is SICK! I agree... : )

Unwind by Neal Shusterman - Redux

Back in March, when I was playing around with book trailers, I created one for Shusterman's book. And it was okay...
Now, that I know better, I've created a better version using moviemaker. You have to watch both to see what a difference a little learning, better hands-on use and more creativity will get you.
I had to re-do this book because in my honest opinion, I believe it has such impact not only on a reader of pleasure, but also on high school curriculum on so many levels. This book makes you THINK...reliving the past, the gray areas in human ethics and morality, replacing one evil with another...this book not only intrigued and tugged at me, but also any teen who read this came back loved it as well...

How much can you retain of your physical self before you're not "you" anymore? Eighty percent? Fifty percent? Ten percent? And if you had only a certain percentage of yourself left, is your soul still intact?

Jenna Fox has been adored and loved by her parents since she was a baby. Every step she made, every accomplishment she's ever done has been recorded on video - and Jenna watches every year she was alive, up to her sixteenth year. The thing is, she can't remember anything she watches.

Jenna wakes up from a coma after a year and her life and memory has altered. Her diet is different, her grandmother pushes her out of arms' reach, and her mother has become more protective than ever. All Jenna wants is a normal life, and the first step is going back to school.

Set in the future, this book deals with the possibility of science and medicine and what happens when science begins to slowly take over. It's a world of mutations, medical advances and questions of how far is too far? A crisp-written book that will make the reader wonder what will happen to Jenna and how she handles her life inside her own skin or as an back-up in a computer. Do memories make a person, or is it more than that?
